Joy Auld

Initially, I started working in medicine a a nurse, receiving my RN, BSN from Oklahoma Baptist University and working at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City on an intermediate care unit for about three years. After a medical missions trip to Swaziland in Africa, however, I felt led to further my education and become a Nurse Practitioner. I wanted to be able to help patients in a more advanced role, so I attended Midwestern State University and started practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013.

Now as a Nurse Practitioner at Remedy, I really enjoy the time I get with patients. There is no rush for a certain amount of patients to be seen, which opens up that time to carefully consider each patient and their specific situation. There is a lot of flexibility with the job including where patients are seen, which can include their homes, if they are unable to make it to the clinic. Patients have access to me, but I also have access to them to be able to easily follow up on such things as whether or not a certain treatment plan is working or not.

Outside the clinic, I love spending time with my family. I'm married to David and we have two kids, William and Hazel. We recently got a new dog, Jett, and have enjoyed having him as an addition to the crew. Some of my favorite things include: singing, playing the piano, and learning to play the mandolin. I also love being out on the lake, water sports, hiking, camping, and traveling. I have really enjoyed living in McAlester and being a part of the community and my church home at First United Methodist Church.
